Much better day today.
Claire had a procedure this morning and they tried to dilate the bile duct again. Report was that it widened a little--not significantly. There is still some discrepancies as to what we should do for the long term fix. And since it's Friday, we're pretty much at a stand-still for the weekend. Some surgeons say we should do the surgery to fix it and others say we should try dilating again (even over a few months). Both options have their ups and down sides.
They also put in a PIC line while she was asleep this morning to draw blood from and to give her IV fluids through. Yeah. NO more pokes! She even commented herself that yesterday was a poke day. Today is NOT...and that in and of itself makes it a better day!
Her blood cultures are positive which means she definitely has a blood infection. It take a few days to know what bug is growing for sure and which antibiotics treat it the best...but for now she is on 3 broad range antibiotics that seem to be doing the trick because she is much more comfortable and the fever is gone. Yeah.
SO....we'll be here for the weekend until a plan is decided upon for sure. All our moods/spirits are much better today. Especially Claire's. She walked around today and even had some fun playing with the doll house in the play room. Benson was in heaven because there was a Wii in there too. His only complaint by the time we ate dinner was that his neck hurt from playing so long....that's hard work ya know!
Mabel's apt went well. She's not moving her fingers like they'd like her to yet, but I don't they expected much this first time either. She liked playing in the tub of water and will go back tomorrow and Monday. At least we're already here anyway.
See...it was a good day. Even some silly pictures from some silly kids! You can see the PIC line on Claire's arm here.

Mabel's whirlpool therapy. (Benson's a pretty good photographer!)
still has a ways to go. ouch.

I have been watching your blog every day. I am so sorry that you have to go through all of this, and I am so sorry I am not there to take Benson off of your hands for you. We are praying that we will be able to see you out here soon.

So glad today was better. You guys are good at keeping your spirits up. I had a missed call from you. I think it was a prank call...but, it made me want to call back. So, I might just do that!
