Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Oct 17
It's been another great day here. The sun even peeked through and warmed us up just a smidgen. Claire's leg certainly seems to be improving. She walked alone today but still mostly enjoys pushing her stroller. They will do another ultrasound of her leg on Monday to see what progression has been made. We are expecting good news!

Fall leaves, how fun! We are having some cooler weather too, and it almost feels like fall here minus the leaves on the ground.
Glad to see her up and about.
Korbin enjoyed the picture of Benson in the leaves. He wanted to know where they all came from.
YES! I love to see them playing. Hope today is a day of rest for all of you! Loves.
Natalie, it's so good to hear that sweet Claire in all of her sunshine has returned. YEA for prayer--it's miraculous and such a blessing. We love you guys.
