Considering all this sweet little body has been through this past week, she has had a peaceful night. Weaning her off the sedation meds and the fentanyl has caused her body to be quite jittery. She's definitely not herself yet....no smiles, no emotion, not playful, and the only words we've heard are ma ma and ouchie and ya. Her body is very weak. She could hardly sit by herself and has a hard time grabbing things with her hands. Physical therapy is going to stop by tomorrow and see what we can do to get her strong again. It's hard to see her in this state but we know each new day will bring greater progress.
The clot in her right leg will be monitored for the next few weeks. She is on heparin to help keep her blood thin and keep the clot from getting bigger. They say the clot should break up on it's own, eventually. It is likely she will continue to get heparin (or something like unto it) for the next few weeks.
Nothing has shown up positive on the blood cultures they drew last week. No infection! The fever was just her body's way of saying, "I've had enough!!"
It will be interesting to see how well she sleeps tonight. After sleeping for the past 6 days, she's not acting all that interested in doing it again! Hoping for the best, for Jared's sake! What a trooper he is!

Those photos are sooo priceless!! You can almost FEEL Benson's happiness in seeing "HIS" sister!!!
I hope Claire surprises you & sleeps well! (I'll keep my fingers crossed for you -- or I guess I should say for Jared!!) GOOD LUCK!!!
I know I keep comparing this with my experience this summer...but, I recognize so many of the same things. I went with my dad on his first "walk" after waking up from sedation. (I think it was the day after the breathing tube came out.) It was heartbreaking. It was seriously like 20 feet. (total) He barely made it back to bed. They loose strength so fast! Just "dangling" his legs over the side of the bed for a few minutes took some serious concentration. BUT~Every day was better! He also had some trouble sleeping at night. Partially the typical hospital interruptions, and partially because the trauma of the events started setting in. She is right on track for healing and seriously doing so well!
I can't believe her progress every day. She is still in my prayers every day. What cute pictures too. :)
I LOVE that Benson is there to hold her hand. They will do a lot of that through life. I guess we all will.
How I Love You All!
I'm a friend of Becca's and she asked us to spread the word, so I posted on my family blog about your wonderful and beautiful children, so I want you to know that I'm praying that all may go as it should You have AMAZING children!
Benson is such a SUPER big brother. We miss him so much in Primary. What cute kids you have. It is so fun to see them together!!!
I am so glad she is awake and doing so well. She is such a strong girl. What a cute brother and sister! We will continue to pray that she will get stronger and stronger!
I'm so glad that she's doing better! She has been in our prayers everyday. My 5 year old, Matthew, is very concerned about her and asks often how "Care" is doing.
These pictures make me so happy! Yea for Claire, yea for Benson, yea for all of you! You have made it through so much already. I'm praying that the rest of her recovery will go smoothly! Loves! Keep the updates coming. I know they are probably a lot of work and time away from your cuties, but we love to know what is happening. Go team Skinner!
I emailed you because I heard about your family from Keri Allred. I thought you were here in Denver, but Keri told me you moved to MN to be near the Mayo clinic. I'm sure you have plenty of contacts there, but I'd like to give you another name. Our cousin is the Chief Resident of Pediatric Cardiology at the the Mayo. His name is Nathan Taggart and he is WONDERFUL! You might have already met him, I think that I read your daughter had open heart surgery so you might know who he is. Anyway, he's awesome! We are glad that Claire seems to be doing well and you will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
She looks like Claire again! Hooray!!
